The Creative Voice Mastermind for Artists with Deeann Rieves and Nikkita Cohoon

Hey fellow artist!

Has your journey as an artist and entrepreneur ever felt a little lonely?

Ever found working on your latest collection or business idea wishing you had a friend to talk to who just got it?

Maybe you’ve found yourself stuck and in need of outside perspective, and someone who encourages you to just show up messy, imperfect, but building momentum? Who helps you find the bravery to put your work out there and leave your insecurities behind?

What if you had a group of art-biz besties who got to know you, your work, and those dreams people in your everyday life don’t fully get—A group where you could cheer each other on, help each other out, and feel fully seen and supported? Guidance from experts who have been there, and continue to push and grow their artistic vision and voice?

INTRODUCING

The Creative Voice Mastermind

Summer - Fall 2022

A guided mastermind group with live monthly calls and ongoing support to dig deep into your artistic voice and brand vision alongside artists like you ready to elevate your artwork and build your brand.

Created and lead by full-time fine artist Deeann Rieves and brand strategist and surface designer Nikkita Cohoon, the mastermind is designed to guide and clarify your journey through intentional support and a call to clear action and growth.

This is not another program designed to add to your to-do list with workbooks and sessions that ask you to follow a specific formula to achieve a cookie-cutter result. It’s also not a course that covers specific marketing or social media techniques.

Yes—we will cover relevant marketing topics during our conversations during our mastermind sessions or live Q & As—but our main purpose is to provide individualized support and feedback for you while you develop your own creative voice as an artist, put it into practice by creating and selling collections of work, and refine your brand alongside your artwork in a cohesive and intentional way that makes sense for you.

You’ll develop your own unique roadmap and do the work while supported by fellow artists creating their own, along with two seasoned guides ready to share their insights and expertise to add clarity and confidence to your actions.

This group was born out of a desire for more. For those who long for community with people that speak their language—sharing and taking inspiration from others, and pushing each other to be better. To create the community we’ve found in each other, but never had elsewhere in the art world.

“I would love to be in community with people that speak my language. I feel inspired by others that love to share, and people that can push me to be better. I've never had that in the art world.”

“I realized it was not about how good or bad the art was, or another set of techniques that I needed to learn but it was about extracting the core of my art practice, my purpose, and passion to make my own style. It was such an amazing, freeing experience to finally see these connections! Now I’m feeling ready to develop that unique foundation within my work because that can take me anywhere I want to go as an artist.”

I came away from Deeann’s portfolio review with a new vision for my work. Her perspective on where she saw my work progressing was spot on compared to where I felt it was going but couldn’t fully express. She gave me specific stylistic ideas that I could implement into my very next painting as well as others that had me desperate to order new art supplies. I highly recommend getting her advice about your artwork and art business!

About Your Guides

Deeann Rieves

I have pursued art as my career for 12 years and have shown my artwork in solo shows, group exhibitions, galleries, coffee shops, art festivals, and online.

After getting my BFA in painting from Memphis College of Art, I started creating work alongside working part time jobs. But a turning point came when I decided to let go of that comfort and lean in to my artwork 100%. My income doubled that first year and has continued to grow steadily ever since.

As I leaned into exploring techniques—as well as evaluating and assessing my work critically along the way—I experienced breakthroughs that led to finding my own creative voice and signature style. Today, I sell most of my work myself and have had a steadily growing income every year as a professional artist.

I believe play, exploration, and bravely pushing yourself to try new things is one of the most important and exciting aspects of being an artist.

I am the owner of Ritual Morning Studio, where I design holistic brand identities for creatives and business owners with big vision to help them convey their value with clarity and build trust with their people. I also create patterns, art, products, and planners to help you find the ritual in the everyday and make the everyday a ritual.

I attended Memphis College of Art where I got my BFA in Printmaking and Book Arts (and met Deeann, my roommate all 4 years!), and went on to pursue an MFA in Poetry from Bowling Green State University. I found that at the heart of what I loved learning about and practicing was a desire to convey ideas uniquely through design. Now, I get to collaborate with artists and business owners of all types with one thing in common: they have big ideas they need help translating to better connect with their audience and elevate their work.

Collaboration with clients and community is a big part of what I do, and I co-founded Mastermind Happy Hour in metro Detroit because I love talking business, brands, resources, and helping others realize their vision and potential. As an artist myself, I get the unique position that sharing and selling your work brings. It can be a struggle at times, but it also leads to celebration when you can settle into what makes you special and distill it into your unique brand.
